Please familiarize yourself with the Exhibition rules and the guidelines for naming your digital images.

The second meeting in each month is devoted to our Photo Exhibition event. Members submit their images at the first meeting in the month which then are reviewed by a professional photographer. Each month we present a different judge from among the top photographers in the Albuquerque area. There is no better way to improve your photos than to have an professional critique of your work.

While the main value is his/her educational critique, images are also scored by the judge, who awards 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and Honorable Mentions in each of the Groups (Divisions B, A and AA) and Categories (see the Exhibition Rules for an explanation of these terms). Images are scored on a scale of 1 to 5 points each for Composition, Impact and Technical quality, resulting in a cumulative range of points from 3 to 15. Every image that places earns an appropriate ribbon.

New and less experienced members initially enter in the "B" Group. More experienced members exhibit in the "A" Group and the most accomplished present their work in the "AA" Group. The ELCC Exhibition Rules explain how one moves from B to A to AA.

Photographs can be submitted in any combination of these three media: Digital image files for projection, Color prints or Black & White prints. All entries must have been exposed by the entrant. For any image that has been produced using photo-editing software, all major parts of the image, except for a digitally-produced mat, must have been captured by a camera.  There are also two categories for Exhibition entries - Assigned and Open.

Winning images and other members images:

Visit the Gallery web page to see Exhibition winners and other member photo galleries (this will show this years Exhibition winners).

Rule Clarification:

Note that the rule requiring that entries in the Assigned category be taken on or after Jan 1, 2012 has been eliminated.

Please note that the rules have changed this year.  This year (2012-2013) members can only submit one digital image each month. Members can submit up to two prints each month for the print part of the Exhibition.  The prints can be in any combination of Color or B&W.  There are no requirements or restrictions on entering the Open or Assigned category.

Digital images must not show the makers name when they are projected.  You are not required to delete your name from the metadata including the copyright information.  You may not embed a copyright notice in the image so that it shows when projected.

Some rules about naming of files may seem like very minor issues.  However, misnamed files can cause the images to sort in the wrong order requiring extra time in organizing the Exhibition.  This includes things like using an "_" (underscore) intead of a "-" (dash) in the filename.

End of year awards terminology change

The awards for the photographers in the club who have the highest average scores from the monthly Exhibitions will be referred to as the Photographer of the Year awards.

Photographer of the Year awards will be given for the highest average assigned image score, highest average open image score, and highest average print score.  There will also be an award for the highest average overall.  Each member must have at least 4 images in the grouping to qualify for a Photographer of the Year award.  The average is a simple average and is not influenced by having even more than 4 images in the group.  Note that for the assigned and open awards that digital image scores are averaged with print image scores.

Members Choice Changes

This is a very important change.

The Members Choice awards have been eliminated from the end of year awards.  There will be no Members Choice Awards this year!!!!!
